The non-leptonic decays of hyperons constitute a longstanding theoretical problem. Motivated by recent measurements from the BESIII collaboration, we study these processes in Chiral Perturbation Theory in new Ref. [2604.00646]. We perform the first relativistic calculation of such decays and include the decuplet as an explicit degree of freedom. Moreover, the contributions from the $1/2^−$ and the $1/2^+$ resonance octets are incorporated at tree level. The unknown low-energy constants are fitted to the decay amplitudes. A good simultaneous fit of the s- and p-wave amplitudes is obtained with the caveat of not being very tightly constrained. The role of the resonances is found to be crucial, and consequences for further investigations are discussed.
