The High-Power RF Laboratory at IFIC (Instituto de Física Corpuscular) is dedicated to advancing high-gradient radiofrequency (RF) technologies for linear accelerators, with a particular focus on medical applications such as hadrontherapy. This facility enables the development, testing, and conditioning of accelerating structures operating at high electric fields, which are essential for creating compact and efficient linacs suitable for clinical environments. The laboratory supports research on RF breakdown phenomena, field emission, and the optimization of cavity performance under extreme conditions. By addressing the technical challenges associated with high-gradient operation, the IFIC RF Laboratory contributes to the design of next-generation accelerators that can deliver precise and effective cancer treatments, paving the way for broader adoption of hadrontherapy in hospitals.
