I review briefly several topics. First, how parity doubled nucleons (adding the N^*(1530)) can lead to rapidly increased cooling in heavy neutron stars. Second, how "moatons" can lead to van Hove singularities in heavy ion collisions at low (STAR, FAIR) energies. Lastly, why 't Hooft anomalies imply strong constraints on linear sigma models for three (but not two) light flavors.
