Description

ROOT is a software package for storage, processing, analysis and visualisation of scientific structured data. With presently more than 2 EB of data coming from the LHC experiments written in the ROOT TTree data format, this project is a veritable international community effort with a stable support model for users in HEP and other sciences. In this seminar we will take a look at the modern ROOT features resulting from a continuous evolution following experiments and users' needs, including modern and performant data analysis and statistical inference. Furthermore, we will explore the future of the project, highlighting among other topics the imminent introduction of an impactful contribution in the form of a new data format for HL-LHC and future colliders, called RNTuple.
