Description

The aim of this hands-on workshop is to discuss and work on the preparation of a project devoted to the development of a high-density neutron-gas target for direct-reaction measuremnets at radioactive-ion storage rings. These type of experiments are expected to open new avenues towards the understanding of the origin of the heavy elements in the Universe.

Different aspects related to the technical feasibility, challenges and astrophysical aspects will be explored. Also, several funding schemes will be evaluated, including the ERC-Synergy Grant call, as well as other European and Canadian funding opportunities.
