Description

Effective Field Theory (EFT) allows us to efficiently describe the dynamics of high-energy processes by systematically integrating out heavy particles and parametrizing their effects through higher mass-dimensional operators (so-called effective Lagrangian). As a result, it provides a powerful framework for studying the behavior of particles and their interactions at energies that exceed the energy scales accessible by collider experiments. With the advancing precision of experimental data, it becomes essential to include higher-dimensional corrections, such as dimension-eight terms, to maintain precision and accuracy in theoretical predictions for measurements in the low-energy regime. In this talk, I will focus on the significance of adopting an effective field theoretic approach in the recent precision era of particle physics. I will discuss different methodologies to implement EFT and their implications in understanding the minute features of the new physics. This will be followed by a discussion on the recent developments towards building systematic matching procedures for obtaining such higher-dimensional effective operators from UV complete scenarios and computation of the complete one-loop effective Lagrangian up to dimension eight. I will conclude the talk with several examples of low-energy effective theories and their phenomenological implications.
