Descripción

We show as scalar polarizations of the gravitational wave spectrum can interact non-collisionally with astrophysical media, once the notions of gravitational plasma and kinematic Landau damping are properly formulated in modified theories of gravity. We analytically determine the damping rate of the scalar mode and we discuss the physical properties of the traversed medium in order such a phenomenon to occur.
