I will present an overview of the search for additional neutral heavy Higgs and gauge bosons in the ditau final state with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The Higgs sector is one of the most promising areas to search for new physics; there are several theories which predict an extended Higgs sector, such as supersymmetry (SUSY). The tau tau channel is particularly interesting as there are SUSY models where the coupling to the third-generation taus is enhanced. Although SUSY is the main motivation, it is a general search for new neutral heavy Higgs or Z' bosons. I will discuss the recently released results from a data sample with an integrated luminosity of 36.1 fb-1 at √s = 13 TeV. This will include a summary of the analysis and interpretation of the results.
