Descripción
Advanced missing transverse momentum reconstruction algorithms have been developed by CMS to mitigate the effect of pileup. The performance of different missing transverse momentum reconstruction algorithms is compared in pp collision data recorded at a center-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s} = 8$~TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $19.6$~fb$^{−1}$. Further algorithms have been developed to identify and remove events with anomalous missing transverse momentum caused by detector effects and to estimate the missing transverse momentum resolution on an event-by-event basis. The performance of these algorithms is presented.
