Descripción
While the neutrino oscillation parameters ($\Delta m^2$, $\sin^2 2\theta$) and the effective Majorana mass of the electron neutrino $m_{ee}$ relevant for neutrinoless double beta decay are in general independent, relations appear under certain assumptions in specific schemes of neutrino masses and mixings. The relations in schemes with oscillation solutions of the solar and atmospheric neutrino problems are studied. Using these relations we derive bounds on $m_{ee}$ in the context of certain schemes and clarify implications of double beta decay experiments for neutrino oscillations and the reconstruction of the neutrino mass spectrum. This allows to evaluate the discovery potential of future neutrinoless double beta decay searches in view of existing and future results on neutrino oscillations.
