Descripción
Non-relativistic bound states have at least three well separated dynamical scales: the mass of the particles that form the bound state (hard), the typical relative momentun in the bound state (soft) and the typical binding energy (ultrasoft). This allows to introduce two effective field theories after sequentially integrating out first the hard scale and next the soft scale. I will discuss how these effective field theories are obtained in the case of QCD and QED, and how they allow to organise bound state calculations in a very efficient way.
