Direct detection experiments have reached unprecedented sensitivity, getting very close to the so-called neutrino floor, testing the frontiers of validity OIF the freeze-out paradigm. I will illustrate a series of scenarios in which the DM relic density can be accommodated while having scattering cross-sections lying inside the neutrino floor, hence motivating further efforts in Direct Detection search strategies.
