In lattice field theories, the process known as scale setting is needed in order to connect the dimensionless predictions from the lattice with the phenomenological world. This process is analogous to when in perturbation theory one fixes the renormalized couplings at some energy scale with some phenomenological quantity. In this talk we will present our recent work setting the scale to subpercent precision, using as phenomenological input the pion (and kaon) decay constant(s). Furthermore, we will use our lattice setup to compute the renormalized charm quark mass and charmed decay constant(s) f_{D_{(s)}} to high precision, needed for precision tests of the Standard Model.
