Partons Distribution Functions (PDFs) describe the parton content of protons and are a crucial ingredient for computing predictions for LHC observables. With the latest developments in fixed order calculations, PDF are increasingly becoming a dominant source of theoretical uncertainties. In this context, the accurate determination of the PDFs and a faithful estimation of their uncertainties is essential for all phenomenological studies.
In this talk I will review the methodological aspects of the latest PDF determinations by the NNPDF collaboration, highlighting the extensive suite of tests that ensures the reliability of both the PDF and its uncertainties. I will then conclude with the future developments that will improve our knowledge of the internal structure of the proton and the role that new technologies can play in this effort.
