Abstract: The search of hybrid meson is one the main goals of the GlueX and CLAS collaborations at Jefferson Lab. In this talk, I will discuss the current state of the art: results obtained so far and future perspective. I will explain my personal journey as a phenomenologist, member of the JPAC group, working in close collaboration with GlueX and CLAS members. I will explain how and why phenomenologists should be more involved in experimental programs in hadron spectroscopy.
