Description

The Group of GRID Computing and e-Science at IFIC has developped their activities since 1999. The main and continuos commitment has been the development, instalation and deployment of an GRID Infrastructure for the ATLAS Experiment: the Spanish ATLAS Tier-2. Some important details and achievements will be given. On the other hand, the Group has been involved in several ICT projects mainly related to the EU Framework Programs. Another projects and collaboration agreemens have been in the basis of the dayly work of the Group. The expertise obtained from the exercise of this period of 14 years will be summarized: the installation, maintenance and operation of a Distributed COmputing Infrastructure (GRID), the involvement in middleware tests, the User Support activities, migration and porting of scientifical applications to the GRID environment, software developments, etc. Finally it will be listed the main areas of interest from the point of view of the Technology Transfer trying to identify potencial interactions in the private and public sectors
