Title: Accurate imaging for radiotherapy - an (un)solved problem

Author: Nils Peters, PhD

Affiliation: Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School

Summary:

For decades, computed tomography has been the gold standard in clinical proton range prediction – still, imaging-induced uncertainties in treatment planning persist, effectively diminishing the benefits of proton therapy. This overview talk will cover the current issues and developments in imaging for patient tissue characterization, covering conventional CT, cone-beam CT, and photon counting CT, with a focus on the implications for clinical research.
