Given the interest of the general public on chatGPT & Co., it may be a good idea to have a discussion session about it. The aim would be to understand at some level how these tools work, thus allowing us to develop a more educated and scientific opinion on the subject. In the first half, I plan to give a non-technical introduction to the algorithms behind, with a pinch of statistical formalism at the end. In the second half, I hope to trigger the debate by summarising a few opinion articles I have read from respected sources.
