Description

Neutron stars can be efficient accreters of galactic dark matter (DM).  In this talk I will first introduce how celestial bodies could probe particle nature of DM. Depending on the nature of particle DM candidate various phenomenological signatures can be realized. In the first part of the talk I will present sensitivity of the recently launched James Webb Space Telescope to old neutron stars in the local vicinity heated by DM annihilations. In the second part of the talk I will discuss how neutron stars can be  turned into solar mass black holes due to accumulation of asymmetric DM triggering gravitational collapse in the star centers. I will discuss the impact of DM self interactions on such scenarios. Workable examples include weakly coupled models with bent infinite valleys.
