Description

Modern Astronomy began with Galileo’s discovery of the moons of Jupiter using an early telescope. In recent decades, astronomical advances have in no small part been a result of new instruments that enabled observations over the entire electromagnetic band, from the radio to high energy gamma rays. The recent discovery of gravitational waves and the implementation of very large scale neutrino experiments promises to broaden astronomy once again, using messengers beyond electromagnetic radiation. The status and promise of multimessenger astronomy will be discussed.
