Given the observation that neutrinos have mass despite no Standard Model prediction, it’s natural to wonder why this is the case. One common feature of models to explain the lightness of these masses is the existence of heavy neutral states. In this talk, I will summarize some ways to look for such “heavy neutral leptons” and the ramifications in the event of such a discovery. Many current and upcoming experiments will perform exciting tests of these scenarios, and if a new particle is discovered, we may begin to diagnose its characteristics.
