The Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT) is an ideal framework to search for physics beyond the SM in precision measurements. A promising and ambitious application is the design of a SMEFT program for the LHC: the goal is to find new physics footprints by combining information from several high-energy measurements, and to ensure a most unbiased interpretation of these results. I will give an overview of the status of this effort and discuss some interesting aspects of SMEFT analyses.
