The 2020 Nobel Prize in Physics - The massive Black Hole at the Centre of the Milky Way

by Dr. Rainer Schödel (IAA-CSIC)

The experimental part of the 2020 Nobel Prize in physics has been awarded to Reinhard Genzel and Andrea Ghez, whose decades-long observations have provided us with evidence beyond doubt that there is a four million solar mass black hole at the centre of the Milky Way. In my talk, I will provide a brief overview of the methology and measurements that have led to this conclusion.
