Descripción

Successful running of the LHC at collision energies of 7, 8 TeV and 13 TeV allowed for a wealth of precision tests of the quantum chromodynamics and for significant improvement of the exclusion limits on various exotic processes. Produced in proton-proton collisions at the LHC, the top quark, a fundamental particle with the mass of a gold atom, plays important role in tests of self-consistency of the Standard Model and providing new insights into the structure of the proton. The recent relevant results on top quark production measurements at the LHC are presented and their interpretation in terms of top quark mass, strong coupling and constraints on the gluon distribution are discussed.
