Description

Recently, it has been suggested that the MiniBooNE excess can be explained by introducing a dark sector that comprises a dark neutrino and a photon. These types of models are naturally embedded in neutrino mass generation scenarios. In this talk, we use neutrino scattering data from Minerva and CHARM-II to probe this class of models. We argue that by using sideband measurements of neutrino-electron scattering, we can significantly explore the parameter space motivated by the MiniBooNE results. Our new constraints show that a simultaneous explanation of the angular and energy distributions of the excess is in tension with neutrino-electron scattering data. Finally, we discuss how these types of measurements can play a role in further constraining the parameter space of these models.
