A brief and personal account of the past, present and future of particle physics by prof. Sheldon Glashow. Professor Glashow is one of the fathers of the Standard Model. He shared the 1979 Nobel-prize with Weinberg and Salam for his work on electro-weak unification. Further contributions include the prediction of the charm quark and the formulation of the GIM mechanism and a grand unified theory.
