After the full 7 and 8 TeV LHC datasets and part of the 13 TeV data have been analysed with no positive result on the search for new physics, scenarios predicting unconventional signatures are becoming more popular.
That is the case of the search for long-lived particles (LLPs) predicted in several theoretical models which would be missed by standard searches involving prompt objects.
In this seminar an overview of the current searches for LLPs in the ATLAS detector will be presented, together with a more detailed description of an example of a search for particles decaying in each of the different parts of the detector.
