In this talk, first I will explain how we Systems Neuroscientists recruit various methodologies to study the mechanisms by which different neural circuits process sensory information, form perceptions of the external world, produce memories, make decisions, and execute movements. In the end, I will focus on my own work which aims to understand neural underpinnings of Parametric Working Memory - how individuals hold and manipulate information - "online"- for brief periods of time, typically a few seconds, in order to complete a task.
