X-ray imaging: from large facilities to medical applications

by Pablo Villanueva (Paul Scherrer Institute)

Seminar Room 1.1.1 (IFIC)

Seminar Room 1.1.1

Since the discovery of X-rays in 1895 by Roentgen to the present times, the X-rays have played a crucial role in the development of modern physics. The appearance of third generation synchrotrons and Free Electron Lasers have opened a new paradigm in X-ray sources allowing us to implement new imaging techniques with better spatial and temporal resolution. In this talk, we will introduce some of these imaging techniques and the efforts done to bring these techniques to the medical hospitals to improve the diagnosis capabilities.
