Descripción
UVEG  Master & Doctorate Course

The aim of the course will be to give an introduction to theories of gravity beyond General Relativity. Although the subject of the course is modified gravity, a substantial part of it will be devoted to General Relativity itself to show the key ingredients and assumptions that lead to GR and, therefore, how we can modify it. We will discuss the main difficulties that we encounter to modify GR and how we can get them around. Finally, some explicit realizations of modified gravity will be discussed.

Course Title:   Introduction to Modified Gravity

Contents of the Lectures
  1. Geometrical approach to GR
  2. Effective field theory approach to GR
  3. Theoretical and observational constraints to modify gravity
  4. Local gravity tests.  Screening mechanisms: Chameleon / symmetron
  5. Examples of modified gravity

Please REGISTER to attend.   Please notice that schedule for 2nd to 5th lectures is to be confirmed at the first lecture
