Descripción
Electric dipole moments are extremely sensitive probes for additional
sources of CP violation in new physics models. We discuss their
model-independent extraction from experimental data with the electron EDM
as an example, taking the recent measurement with ThO molecules into
account.
Since recently models including new CP-violating phases have been
discussed widely, we revisit the available constraints in the presence of
mechanisms which are typically invoked to evade flavour-changing neutral
currents. Again carefully assessing the necessary calculations on the
hadronic, nuclear and atomic/molecular level, we discuss the resulting
bounds in the context of two-Higgs-doublet models, highlighting the
interplay with flavour physics.
