Descripción
Loop quantum gravity is a non perturbative approach to the quantization of general relativity that borrows many ideas from the quantization of Yang-Mills theories. It emphasizes a background independent point of view adapted to the diffeomorphism invariance of general relativity. The talk will review the basics of the formalism in its current form --in particular the classical Hamiltonian formulation and its quantization-- and discuss the state of the art and future prospects.
