Descripción
The LHC had a very successful start-up in the last weeks of 2009. First proton-proton collisions were produced, at first at 0.9 TeV center of mass energy and later at 2.36 TeV, which is presently the highest energy ever reached at a particle collider. The 4 main experiments ALICE, ATLAS, CMS and LHCb were ready and have successfully collected data, and first results will be shown. This also include the first physics analysis at this new collider and in the new energy regime. Based on the experience with the LHC in 2009, a projection for its operation on 2010 is being finalized and will be presented. In function of this plan, a review will be given on realistic physics goals for 2010 and the following years, in particular for Standard Model physics measurements and searches for New Physics.
