Anomalous soft photon phenomenon in multiple hadron production

In the experimental domain of high energy physics there is an unexplained effect reported by several experiments in which the observed production of soft photons in hadronic reactions was found to be several times higher than the strict theoretical predictions. A review of the experimental results coming from both, fixed target experiments and e+e- annihilation (the DELPHI experiment at LEP1), will be given, followed by a short discussion of theoretical attempts to describe the phenomenon.
