As it is known, it is conceivable that the spontaneous breakdown of chiral symmetry occur without the formation of a quark-antiquark condensate. Admitting this possibility results in some complications, which, however, can be systematically accounted for in the framework of Generalized Chiral Perturbation Theory. After contructing the SU(2)XSU(2) generalized lagrangian and renormalizing it at one loop level, I will focus on two processes, very sensitive to the size of the quark condensate: elastic pi-pi scattering and the decays tau -> 3 pi nu(tau).
