Descripción
The solar proton burning process is computed in an effective field theory using the chiral perturbation expansion. This represents a model-independent calculation consistent with the low-energy effective theory of QCD. Its accuracy is comparable to the radiative neutron-proton capture calculation at thermal energy, which is within the error bound by one percent. We show how effectively effective quantum theories work in nuclear physics.
