Descripción

Coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering (CEvNS) is a Standard Model (SM) process in which a neutrino scatters off a nucleus via the weak neutral current. Proposed in 1974, this elusive process remained undetected until 2017, when the COHERENT collaboration made its first measurement using a 14.6 kg CsI detector.

In this seminar I will explain the details of the process: why the cross section is enhanced and how this advantage was used in such a tiny detector or how the process provides useful data within the SM at low energies and opens the door to many new physics searches. In addition, we will talk about the current experimental status of CEvNS and the future, and, of course, I will show you my work on one of these new physics scenarios.
