Bose Einstein Condensates undergoing transonic motion have been shown to present a spontaneous emission of phonons. In this talk we will see how this is derived and why this process is analogue to Hawking Radiation. In order to understand the physical idea behind this, we will study a simple one-dimensional geometry with a stepwise homogeneous flow which allows for a fully analytical treatment.
