DESCRIPTION:In this talk\, I will present the new opportunities offered by
the intensity-frontier experimental facility BDF/SHiP that was approved b
y CERN in 2024 for the future physics programme of the new SPS High-Intens
ity facility in the ECN3 experimental area. The SHiP experiment is designe
d to operate in beam-dump mode to generically search for Feebly Interactin
g Particles at the GeV-scale and perform measurements in neutrino physics.
BDF/SHiP complements the worldwide program of New Physics searches by exp
loring a large region of parameter space that cannot be addressed by other
experiments\, and which reaches several orders of magnitude below existin
g bounds by efficiently exploiting the currently available 4x10^19 protons
per year at 400 GeV for up to 15 years. The SHiP experiment has sensitivi
ty to both decay and scattering signatures of models with feebly interacti
ng particles\, such as dark-sector mediators and light dark matter. In neu
trino physics\, BDF/SHiP can perform unprecedented measurements with tau n
eutrinos. In this seminar I will introduce the physics motivation and pr
ospects and discuss the experimental and technological challenges.\n\nhttp
