DESCRIPTION:The KM3NeT infrastructure comprises two water Cherenkov detect
ors in the Mediterranean Sea. \nEach detector is composed of multiple opt
ical modules that are subject to movement due to deep-sea currents.\nTo en
sure an accurate reconstruction of neutrino events\, the position of each
optical module needs to be tracked continuously.\nThe positioning system i
s based on set of acoustic emitters placed on the seabed and acoustic rece
ivers integrated into the optical modules. \nA global fit of the acoustic
data is used to determine the position of each detector element every ten
minutes. \nThe movement of the detector can be compared to measurements
 of deep-sea currents.\n\nhttps://indico.ific.uv.es/event/7983/
