Atmospheric Neutrinos: Experiments and Phenomenology

Europe/Madrid
Casa de la Ciencia (C/ Bailía, 1, Ciutat Vella, 46003 Valencia)
Alfonso Andres Garcia Soto (IFIC), Mariam Tórtola (IFIC, CSIC / Univ. de Valencia)
Description

This workshop will cover the latest advancements in the study of neutrino oscillations using atmospheric neutrino detectors, aiming to provide a comprehensive overview of the field from both experimental and phenomenological perspectives.

Standard Neutrino Oscillations

We will discuss the latest measurements of standard neutrino oscillations from IceCube, KM3NeT, and SuperK, as well as the future prospects from upcoming experiments. We will also see how these results impact global data analyses.

Beyond Standard Model Searches

The second block focus on recent developments in Beyond Standard Model searches using atmospheric neutrinos. Discussions will be organized into four main areas: Non-Standard Interactions (NSI), Heavy Neutral Leptons (HNLs), Quantum Decoherence and eV-scale Sterile Neutrinos.

Discussion Time

The agenda is structured to include dedicated time for discussions following each block of presentations.

Fees

There is no registration fee for the workshop, but attendees are responsible for their own travel, accommodation, and meals (except for coffee breaks).

Meals

Coffee breaks will be provided each day—one in the morning and one in the afternoon—offering coffee, tea, and snacks. Lunch is not provided at the venue, but there are several nearby restaurants and take-out options.

Additionally, we plan to organize a group dinner at Restaurante Los Gomez on Thursday evening. The menu costs 41EUR. Please let us know whether you would like to join filling the following form (it will take you <1 minute).

We need to have a number of diners by November 29th, so please fill it as soon as possible.

Venue Location

The workshop will take place at Casa de la Ciencia (Google Maps link), conveniently located near one of the main squares in the city center of Valencia.

Accommodation

Valencia's city center offers a variety of hotels and Airbnbs. We have also pre-booked 15 rooms at the university residence, Colegio Mayor Rector Peset (Google Maps link), for December 3rd to 6th. The residence is located in the city center, just a 6-minute walk from the venue. More information about the residence is available here. The cost, including breakfast, is approximately 50 euros per night.

Please let us know if you are interested in reserving one of the rooms at the residence.
