DESCRIPTION:Medical Physics Seminar - Seminario de Física Médica\n\nTitl
e: In-vivo imaging of theranostics radionuclides\n\nAuthor: Javier Carava
ca\, PhD\n\nAffiliation: Associate Professional Researcher at the Universi
ty of California\, San Francisco (UCSF)\n\nSummary: \n\nThe combination of
radionuclide therapy with diagnostics (or theranostics) enables personali
zed radionuclide therapy\, resulting in much more precise\, effective\, an
d less toxic treatments. In-vivo clinical and preclinical imaging of these
radionuclides is critical for the success of theranostics. In the last de
cade\, single photon emission computed tomography or SPECT has shown excel
lent performance imaging non-therapeutical radiotracers\, but it presents
serious limitations when imaging therapeutical radionuclides due to its re
latively low sensitivity. I will review the research portfolio and recent
results of the Particle Research Laboratory at UCSF towards imaging of cha
llenging theranostics radionuclides like 225Ac and 177Lu for preclinical a
nd clinical purposes. This includes development of non-standard SPECT conc
epts using Compton and proximity imaging.\n\n \n\nOnline link: https://co
nectaha.csic.es/b/fer-gny-a0x-omp. The room access code will be sent per e
-mail.\n\nThis time\, the seminar will be in-person at Sala de Audiovisual
 es - Nave Experimental IFIC.\n\nhttps://indico.ific.uv.es/event/7315/
