Description

One of the main goals of the LHC physics programme at CERN is to discover physics beyond the Standard Model. This could occur in the form of non-diagonal Yukawa couplings of the Higgs boson that open the possibility of observing lepton-flavour-violating (LFV) decays into a pair of leptons with different flavours. This talk presents the results of a direct search for LFV decays of the Higgs boson to e tau and mu tau final states with the ATLAS detector using the full Run 2 dataset. The focus is on the leptonic decay channel and the entire analysis will be covered, from the initial event selection and background estimation, to the development of the MVA and final fit results
