Neutrinoless double beta decay is a hypothetical rare process that violates lepton number conservation and implies the Majorana nature of neutrinos, which could also give insight into their absolute mass scale. This seminar will first show a quick review of how to design an experiment to measure this process. The NEXT collaboration, being positioned as one of the most promising experiments in the field, searches for this rare decay with Xe-136 by exploiting high-pressure xenon gas TPCs with electroluminescent amplification. The principal trademarks of the experiment include an excellent energy resolution at the Qbb, and a highly defined topology reconstruction of events that boosts the signal-to-background discrimination. The latest results and future prospects will also be presented.
