DESCRIPTION:In this talk\, I will review recent work examining how measure
ments in the lepton sector can provide complementary constraints on new ph
ysics. The elephant in the room is the presence of tiny neutrino masses\,
which cannot be explained in the Standard Model. Taking a phenomenological
approach\, I will review how neutrino masses can be generated via the can
onical type-I or inverse seesaw mechanisms and the constraints on the mixi
ngs and masses of the heavy neutral leptons\, with a particular focus on t
hose from neutrinoless double beta (0vbb) decay. I will then discuss the i
ntriguing possibility of distinguishing the Dirac vs. Majorana nature of t
hese states by detecting outgoing photons at coherent elastic neutrino-nuc
leus scattering (CEvNS) experiments. Finally\, I will examine how searches
for rare processes\, such as 0vbb and charged lepton flavour violating de
cays\, can be used to constrain other extensions\, such as light neutralin
 os in R-parity violating models.\n\nhttps://indico.ific.uv.es/event/6639/
