DESCRIPTION:Medical Physics Seminar - Seminario de Física Médica\n\nTitl
 e: Real-time beam monitoring of X-ray radiotherapy treatments.\n\nAuthor:
Lana Beck\, PhD\n\nAffiliation: School of Physics\, University of Bristol
.\n\nSummary: X-ray radiotherapy plays a significant role in cancer care\
, being used alone or alongside other treatments in 50% of treatment plans
\, curative and palliative. We are developing Monolithic Active Pixel Sens
ors (MAPS)\, to be placed upstream of the patient\, attached to the head o
f the radiotherapy linear accelerator (LINAC)\, to monitor treatments in r
eal time. MAPS are ideal due to their high resolution\, radiation toleranc
e and fast readout. They can be thinned to <30 um meaning that >99% of the
therapeutic treatment beam is delivered to the patient. One complication
is the electron contamination that arises from the interaction of the X-ra
y beam with the LINAC collimators and the air\, obscuring the measurement
of the X-rays. In this talk I will present methods of overcoming this to m
easure the dose to the patient\, investigated in GATE/GEANT4 simulations a
nd experimentally. I will also discuss tracking of the beam collimator pos
 itions in dynamic treatments.\n\n \n\nOnline link: https://conectaha.csic
