Abstract:
In this seminar I will briefly introduce the important role of symmetries in physics and in particular of the Noether theorem. I will then review some important discrete symmetries in QFT: C, P, T and their combinations CP and CPT. Finally, I will describe how generalized CP symmetries can be used as a model-independent powerful tool to obtain flavour predictions in particle physics.
