The industry of miniature lenses started to grow when the mobile phone fabricators decided to include camera modules into their cell phones. Since then, the design and fabrication techniques associated to miniature lenses experienced an unstoppable development. Many different types of designs can be found: from ultra-wide to zoom lenses. In this talk, I will explain the basics of miniature-lens designs: sizes, materials, surfaces, number of elements, available sensors, etc., and I will get into detail describing a telephoto lens design thought to work as a rear zoom camera in a mobile phone. Besides, I will share some fabrication tips to desensitize miniature lenses against manufacturing and assembly tolerances.
