#StudentSeminar Clinical applications of electronic brachytherapy: endometrial and intraoperative radiotherapy (breast and sarcomas)

by Sergio Lozares (SEFM)

Historically, clinical applications of electronic brachytherapy were performed with radioisotopes, mainly Ir192 and Co60. The development of electronic brachytherapy introduces a new scenario in the clinic in many locations, in particular the treatment of endometrial cancer and intraoperative radiotherapy in breast cancer with single session, as well as applications in sarcomas, also in a surgical scenario.

In this presentation, attention will be focused on the clinical implications in these treatments, as well as the dosimetric differences with conventional brachytherapy and examples of in vivo dosimetry in electronic brachytherapy.
