Cold DM and Sterile Neutrinos

by Miguel G. Folgado (IFIC, UV-CSIC)

Nowadays, the dark matter represents one of the most important challenges in experimental and theoretical particle physics. The nature of this new kind of matter is still unknown. On the other hand, the SM predicts massless neutrinos while recent experiments show that this mass is different from zero. The most popular way in theoretical physics to solve this problem is the existence of the sterile neutrinos.

In this talk we show that sterile neutrinos could provide a link between the Standard Model particles and a dark sector, besides generating active neutrino masses via the seesaw mechanism. Furthermore, this model can be tested using different astrophysical experiments and explain galactic center gamma-ray excess with impressive precision.
